3 Simple Ways to Love Your Neighbor Today

We’ve all heard the phrase, “love your neighbor.” But what does that actually look like today?

This ancient phrase comes from a famous story in the Bible:

A man, beaten and left for dead, is ignored by people who just walk by—until one person stops. He bandages the wounds, takes the man to safety, and pays for his care.

From this parable we can see 3 simple ways to love your neighbor in everyday life:

1. Serve Who You See

Start with the people already around you. Maybe it’s a student who can’t afford sports gear, a neighbor facing illness, or someone grieving a loss. A small act—like a visit, a meal, or even a pair of athletic socks—can mean the world to them on a hard day.

2. Use What You Have

Your everyday skills and tools can be life-changing for someone else. Whether it’s fixing a tire, cooking a meal, or delivering donations —what you already have or can do may be exactly what someone needs.

3. Look for Locals to Help

You don’t have to do it all alone. Like the innkeeper in Jesus’ story, there are people in your community who are ready to help. Join forces with local nonprofits, churches, businesses, or friends to meet needs together.

Don’t underestimate the power of simple kindness. Your small act could be someone else’s turning point.

Think about:

– Who have you seen in need lately?

– What can you do with what you have?

– Who could you team up with to make a difference?
