We live in a miracle every day—the United States of America.
Even though our nation faces real challenges, it remains a cherished land of opportunity and hope. If you turn off the news, put down your phone, and step outside, you may begin to notice that miracle again—in ordinary places, among ordinary people, in your own community.
At school, you’ll find teachers who truly care about their students. In the park, a stranger may greet you with a smile. Walk into a local business and you’re often welcomed with a simple, genuine offer to help. Sit in the stands at a little league game, and you’ll see a tapestry of families, stories, and shared moments.
Yes, there are frustrations—impatient drivers, difficult neighbors, and those with complex problems. But there are also countless people who are quietly serving, helping, and giving every day.
In every corner of this country—from the loneliest highway in Nevada to the busiest roadside stop on the Jersey Turnpike—you’ll find good and honest neighbors.
If we focus only on what’s presented on the news or social media, the wonder of this nation can begin to fade. Worse, the real problems we can address may start to feel distant and impossible. But when we reconnect with the people and places around us, we begin to see more clearly—and act more meaningfully.
Even on our worst days as a nation, there is still much that is good. We are not perfect, but the vast majority of people in this country are striving to live with purpose—faithful to their families, their communities, and churches.
In the closing line of the Declaration of Independence, just above the signatures, these words appear:
“And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our Sacred Honor.”
Those words remind us that the founding of this nation was rooted not only in courage, but in trust—trust in God and in one another.
As we approach the 250th anniversary of the United States, may we also choose to stand together in that same spirit. Let us give our best each day in the ways available to us: help a neighbor, spend time with family, pray, volunteer, give generously, and encourage others.
This is the way the American dream becomes reality for us today and future generations.
